Director, Martyn Stokes reflects over 2022 with aspirations of what growth looks like with emerging sectors such as Life Sciences and the Heritage sector.
In 2022 we continued to do what we are good at; however, a key highlight was that we delivered on some of our sector diversification targets. Healthcare continued to be our largest sector (55% of our turnover) with some larger projects being secured across private providers, the NHS, and primary care. Office projects grew to more than 20% from 15% in the previous year and Leisure from 6% to 10%. This was achieved through larger office schemes being secured and delivered for the likes of Virgin, Osborne Clarke, Howard de Walden Estates, Wittington Investments along with multiple schemes being secured with The Crown Estate, Vodafone, Digital Realty, Third Space, and Paramount. We are seeing more and more clients develop briefs to entice employees back to the office, which is generating some exciting projects. We fully expect health and office to continue to be strong sectors within our business in 2023 but there are some new sectors being established…
Education & Science has grown over the last 12 months, the following work being secured with St Augustine’s Priory, Stratford School Academy, Harrow School, Royal Veterinary College and through two local authorities, Herefordshire Council, Milton Keynes Council. This is a sector we are looking to continue to grow and merge with Life Sciences, which will be led by Associate, Joe Small. We are currently working on two landlord developments to deliver a shell that will be suitable for a life science tenant. We plan to use this experience combined with a growth strategy to use our specialist knowledge and expertise to develop this sector over the next 12 months. We are also very happy to have seen growth in listed building projects and have dedicated resource in helping establish the Heritage sector. This will be led by Associate, Christopher Nelson.
As we continue to grow, in addition to working extensively with a great selection of existing clients on health and office projects, we are striving to make MESH the go-to for the most exciting and unique projects that are in a company’s pipeline.
