Just before Christmas, members of the project team, and students from Queen’s College, gathered at the 1-7 Harley Street site to bury time capsules. These capsules, which will rest metres below street level after the project’s completion, will be marked on the building plans to ensure they can be unearthed by future generations.
This exciting milestone is part of the ongoing progress at the 1-7 Harley Street project in Marylebone, undertaken for The Howard de Walden Estate, where excavation work behind the retained heritage façade has now reached a depth of 10 metres below street level. Achieving this depth involved intricate temporary works designs and included the use of a Hütte-203 restricted access piling rig to install temporary/permanent piles.
As construction continues, the time capsules will serve as a meaningful reminder of the collaboration and ingenuity that define this project.
